The company was founded under Emiri Law No. 10, issued by the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
We became a public joint stock company in 1986, with an approximate 45% shareholding, and the remaining divided between the Government of Abu Dhabi and various local organisations. We are a semi-governmental entity and have been instrumental in the economical, infrastructural, financial, communal and societal development of Abu Dhabi over the past few decades.
